⛅️ Today’s weather: Cloudy, with a high near 56°.

In today’s digest:

The Digest

Outlive yourself 🌲

One big thing: Fishers has made it easy to request planting a tree in the city.

What’s funny about history is many things, even just 300 years ago, get forgotten or misremembered. Many trees, if taken care of, will way outlive us. Put them together and you get a neat opportunity to create lasting history. Here are the details:

  • Preferred tree types: Maple, Oak, Tulip
  • Locations to plant: Billericay Park. Cumberland Fields. Flat Fork Creek Park. Hamilton Proper. Harrison Thompson Park. Heritage Park. Mudsock Fields. Olio Fields. Roy G. Holland Park. Other.

If you do choose to plant a tree, you’ll be responsible for maintaining it — as well as information tied to the tree. You’ll also need to create a memorial plaque, label, bench, etc. to mark its significance.

Apply to plant a tree here.

Home affordability results

Last week, Fishers approved the construction of 225 new homes in the 96th Street/Georgia Road area. It was lightly debated what is considered affordable and the need for the homes in the first place. Read more here if you missed it.

So I asked readers, what do you consider affordable? Here are the results of the poll:

💡 Helpful tip: If you’ve never bought a home, there are programs that can help you with that down payment. Indiana offers first-time buyers 6% of the price of the home in down payment assistance.

Construction this week

Here’s a high-level overview of what’s new this week:

  • The roundabout at 106th/Hoosier Road is taking longer than expected to complete. There is no estimated completion date yet.
