💯 Fishers’ health hammer

gradelisting

One big thing: All restaurants in Fishers will have a placard with their 2023 health inspection score in a month.

  • Grade A = Exceptional
  • Grade B = Acceptable
  • Grade C = Minimum requirements met

Health score placards are a popular program in other big cities in the US. I guess this means Fishers is a big city now 📸. It’s also one of three cities in the state with its own health department.

Why it matters: Food safety and transparency are a big deal. Fishers demands high standards, and this is a clear path to it. These placards will likely drive business to higher-rated restaurants while lower-rated restaurants suffer.

Go Deeper: The grade is a point system that starts at 100. Points are deducted for bad practice. You can view how they break down the points here (61 points is the min to pass). Restaurants that received a lower grade can submit for a random re-grade at their own cost.

Here is a deeper dive into how the whole system works. Post link.
