🏀 First time ever sectional champs

Fishers High School Basketball team are your Sectional 8 Champs — their first in school history.

After beating HSE on Friday night, they moved on to Saturday’s game to a sold-out crowd vs Noblesville. The game was very close, but Fishers held on and won out with a final score of 49-47.

The win puts them at #1 in the state, division, and Indianapolis area. As well as #30 in the nation. Congrats Fishers, and good luck getting that state championship!

Indy Ignite

Seating chart for the new Indy Ignite

Indiana’s got a new sports star: the Indy Ignite! Starting January 2025, they’re setting up camp at the new Fishers Event Center. They’re the first pro women’s volleyball team in Indiana and will play in North America’s top league.

With the announcement came the ability to buy season tickets – and a map of what seating at the stadium will look like. This is the first look for the public I could find showing how the stadium will be laid out.

Cool fact: The Indy Ignite is the second “Indy” team to call Fishers home. It’s a bit like how the NFL’s 49ers, Cowboys, and Giants don’t play in their namesake cities. Only the Fishers Freight uses the Fishers name.

Fishers now have pro volleyball, hockey, and football. Noblesville has basketball with the Mad Ants moving there. With plans for our high school teams to play their biggest games at the event center, 2025 looks like a very sports-filled year for Fishers.

Civil Meetings

The Plat Committee meets Wednesday at Launch Fishers (12175 Visionary Way) at 4 pm. The only agenda item is a replat for the Villas at Fishers District.

Replat is an outrageous word 🤣 Even searching it on Google made no sense. ChatGPT tells me it’s just redrawing property lines.

The Planned Unit Development Commission meets Wednesday at Launch Fishers (12175 Visionary Way) at 5 pm. The only item on the agenda is approving an upcoming development on 106th Street near Lantern Road. The development includes mixed-use space and apartments. The following are confirmed:

Local business

🫖 Return of the Tilly

In the pre-First Internet Bank ages (known to Fishers Futurists as the Dark Ages), there was a little tea shop called Tilly’s Tea Room. They shut down then, but are now re-opening in the new bank building as a tea shop and fish and chips eatery.

📍 You can use this old Google Maps view to see what 116th Street looked like before. It’s amazing to see how different Fishers is in such a short time.

Hotel Nickel Plate

Here’s what you should know this week. Deeper insights are found on the Fishers Digest website.

  • 146th Street and Allisonville Road construction has started. It should open up sometime in June
  • Concrete work will start on Municipal Drive. This is in preparation for the new city hall and art center opening in April/May 2024
  • The city will close part of Allisonville Road for sanitary sewer cleaning today
  • Windermere is the next neighborhood to get their sidewalks repaired
  • Heritage Park Bridge construction is starting soon. The bridge will connect Carmel and Fishers over the White River. August 2025 is the ETA

WTHR has reported that 96th Street/Allisonville Road construction will start this month. How much of the intersection they will shut down remains TBD. Deciding to do so now with the upcoming eclipse would be very curious. The expectation for April is between 600,000 and 2 million people.
