If you’re like me, your furry friends aren’t just pets β they’re family. And when it comes to finding the best pet-friendly spots in Fishers, Indiana, I got you! In this blog, we’ll explore some of the top dog parks, trails, and restaurants where your dogs are more than welcome.
Pet-Friendly Restaurants
If you’re looking for a place to grab a bite without leaving your furry friend behind, Fishers is the place to go.
The health department does not allow dogs indoors in food establishments. Every restaurant on this list has some outdoor seating or patio area where dogs would be welcome.
The Yard Fishers
The Yard at Fishers isn’t a restaurant. It’s one of the newest districts in the Fishers District. There are 19 restaurants across the space, with more on the way thanks to the Whistle Drive development. Since it’s an open area, dogs are welcome anywhere but not every restaurant is. These restaurants are cool with it:
Restaurant | Type of food | Learn more |
Rize Fishers | Breakfast/Brunch | Website |
Sun King Fishers | Brewery and test kitchen | Website |
Nice Frozen Treat | Ice Cream | Website |
Sangrita Grill + Cantina | Mexican | Website |
101 Beer Kitchen | American/Variety | Website |
Four Day Ray Brewing
Four Day Ray Brewing is a downtown staple. They offer an impressive range of craft brews alongside a fun globally inspired menu. It’s a great spot in the heart of Fishers that’s easy to walk to.
Dogs are allowed at Four Day Ray as long as they are leashed and outside in their beer garden.
MashCraft Fishers
Mashcraft is a local brewery that really leans into being a community space. They’ll host everything from CCA pickleball tournaments to live music during the summertime. During the winter, they’ll host everything from board game tournaments to trivia.
One thing is always the case though, when their outdoor patio seating is open β your dogs are welcome!
Chatham Tap
Chatham Tap is the premier spot for watching soccer (or football, depending on where you’re from). It’s a fun pub with several locations throughout Indy, including one in Fishers.
Leashed dogs are always welcome on their patio!
Pinheads Alleyhouse
You might think their main activity is bowling, but they offer much more than that. You can bring your dog to their outdoor patio during the summer to eat food, drink beer, and play sand volleyball.
Ale Emporium
Pro tip: Their wings are usually regarded as some of the best in Indianapolis. Their hermanaki wings will likely end up in a history book.
Their covered patio is a great place to relax and bring your dog, especially on a rainy day.
City BBQ
This fast-casual BBQ chain has an outdoor patio where dogs are welcome.
Last summer (2023), they had a whole month dedicated to dogs. Their dog days of summer event. Beyond being able to bring and eat good BBQ with your dog, they offered specials for you, and some proceeds went to the local humane society. Win-win-win for everyone!
Handel’s Ice Cream
It’s not exactly a restaurant, but it doesn’t fit well in the other category. Since it’s a walk-up counter-service spot in downtown Fishers, your dog is welcome to come with you.
King Jugg Brewing
King Jugg is a newish beer garden in the developing 106th Street/I-69 area. It has a massive outdoor seating area and plays live music (usually on Thursdays). Dogs are welcome outside.
Local Parks and Trails
Every one of the 26+ parks and trails in Fishers are pet-friendly. The Fishers Parks department has a full list of the city parks. In our list, these are our curated picks for the best parks in Fishers.
Cyntheanne Park
Cyntheanne Park is perfect if you want to take your dog on a walk around a walking track. Depending on when you go, you may come across sports teams playing games on the mixed-used fields inside the track. Lacrosse and soccer are big here. The park is well-known for its pet-friendly atmosphere and amenities, with poop bags at every corner.
Flat Fork Creek Park
If you don’t mind your dog getting a little dirty, Flat Fork Creek Park is one of the best. Pet-friendly trails with breathtaking sights (for Fishers anyway), hills for sledding, and a treehouse for kids make this park a must-visit. Plus, itβs open year-round. So, seasonal changes give you a whole new perspective on nature’s beauty to enjoy with your furry companion.
Nickel Plate Trail
The Nickel Plate Trail replaced the old train tracks that used to go through the city. The linear trail ties the city’s history with scenic greenery, making exploring it a fun walk. The paved path makes it easy for pets and owners to enjoy without worrying about muddy paws.
The trail is the star child of the current Fishers mayor, and 2024 brings plans to increase amenities along the path. This trail will only improve as it soon connects to every surrounding city β Indianapolis, Carmel, and Noblesville.
Geist Greenway
Running along Geist Reservoir, the Geist Greenway is the newest trail in Fishers. It’s an epic walking trail that will take you across Geist and through a few neighborhoods on the city’s east side. There are plans to continue expanding the path, with neighborhoods like Royalwood and Geist Overlook soon to be connected.
HSE Soccer Fields
This one is low-key. If you can find a time when games aren’t being played, the HSE soccer fields offer a massive green space for your dog to run. Just please be sure to pick up after them and don’t ruin this for everyone.
Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve
Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve should be on every dog’s bucket list. With over 127 acres of natural trails and flora, itβs the best natural park near downtown Fishers.
Once completed, Ritchey Woods will also be connected to the Andretti HQ. While it’s unclear if dogs will be allowed at the Andretti experience, it’s still worth knowing!
Fishers Community Center
Announced recently is the new community center in Fishers, which will feature a huge dog park. It’s expected to open in October of 2025, and once it is, we’ll update this blog post with the details. It will be the largest public fenced in dog park in Fishers once built. Those looking for fenced in parks now should check out the dog park at Hamilton Town Center mall.
Dog-Friendly Events and Attractions
2024 Fishers Farmers Market
The Fishers Farmers Market is a major attraction for dogs in the summertime. The Mayor of Fishers, Scott Fadness, has even joked about “never mess with people’s ability to bring their dogs to our markets” (paraphrasing here).
Vendors sell dog treats, pet accessories, and even organic dog food. Trust me, you and your four-legged friend will not want to miss it.
Please only bring your dog if it is well-behaved, and you plan on being a responsible owner and picking up after them. While most residents support dogs, a few bad experiences and owners can change that and ruin the city for the rest of the future.
Woofstock 2024
Woofstock is a yearly 5K and dog walk through downtown Fishers. The walk benefits the Humane Society’s survivor program and is a great time for dog lovers.
Even if you don’t participate in the dog walk, booths will line the street throughout the morning for you and your pup. Painting, dog treats, games, karaoke, and more.
Fun fact: The Humane Society of Hamilton County is one of the only no-kill shelters in the country. For this reason, they’re often at or overcapacity with dogs and other animals.
Yappy Hour at Fishers District
During the Summer, The Yard will host dog-exclusive events like the Yappy Hour. It’s a happy hour for dogs, with a live DJ, games, and food for dogs from local restaurants. These usually happen once a month and have not yet been announced for the 2024 season. So watch out and check back to this page when they are!
Pet-Friendly Accommodations
If you’re looking for a place to stay, especially with the upcoming solar eclipse, there are a few hotels that will welcome your dog in Fishers.
Hyatt Place Hotel
This hotel is connected to The Yard at Fishers District. If you’re traveling and happen to be staying here, they allow 2 household pets per room under 50 lbs each. A max total weight of 75 lbs.
Hampton Inn and Suites
Located on Commercial Drive in downtown Fishers, Hampton Inn offers the same dog policy as the Hyatt Place hotel: 2 dogs under 50 lbs each.
