Small Business Saturday 2024
We collected a few businesses we like and think you should support this upcoming Saturday, Nov 30th. If you don’t see your business here, we still love you ❤️
Small Business Saturday is November 30th, and most will be doing some sort of purchasing for the upcoming holidays. Fishers has tons of great local businesses, from retail goods to clothing to home services, and if you’re in the market for a product or service, you can probably find it locally.
While you may be tempted to check Amazon first this weekend, here are some reasons why you should consider shopping small and local for the season:
- When you shop small, a significant portion of the money you spend stays within our community, creating a “multiplier effect.” Studies have shown that around 67 cents of every dollar spent at local businesses stays in the local economy, compared to only 43 cents when spent at national chains.
- Locally-owned restaurants often have an even greater impact, with up to 79 cents of every dollar staying in the community.
- Local businesses provide jobs for community members, and by supporting them you help sustain employment and create new opportunities for others.
- Shopping local forages relationships and fosters connection. Who doesn’t love seeing a friendly face to chat about family or a recent vacation?
- Shopping small supports environmental sustainability by reducing long-distance transportation and waste, encouraging sustainable business practices.
- Shopping local keeps tax dollars in the community since businesses are paying taxes which directly impact our local schools, parks, and more.
The City of Fishers has a great holiday guide for the 2024 season, and we’ve also added a few of our own local favorites (and thanks to our readers for their responses, which are included too!):
Allisonville Home and Garden
Satisfy all of your outdoor landscaping needs, pick up home decor, eat at Maggie’s Bistro, or simply sip coffee or wine as you shop. A reader says they have great jewelry and gifts. You can also rent their space for your next private event.
Blush Salon Boutique
Blush Salon Boutique is your one-stop-shop for some pampering and local gifts. Enjoy a fresh haircut, color, waxing, or facial. And following your service, shop jewelry, candles, perfumes, and more. You can even shop online (thanks for the tip FD reader).
Hiatus Tequila
You’ve probably spotted Hiatus on the bar shelves at local establishments like Ale Emporium, 1933, and Foxgardin. Choose between Blanco, Reposado, or Añejo. Each bottle is crafted to perfection, whether you’re sipping neat, mixing a Margarita, or celebrating with friends. Go ahead, be bartender of the year! Buy 3 bottles and earn yourself free shipping!
Indy Sign Sisters
Indy Sign Sisters create custom acrylic and metal signs, all shipping directly from Indy! Work with them to create a unique piece to hang, a custom ornament, or something else. They’ve had thousands of sales and are 5-star sellers on Etsy.
Kelly Dather Realtor Group
Alright maybe Kelly here isn’t teeeeechnially a small business. Readers are probably familiar with the name, and if you’re in the market for buying or selling, we can vouch for him and his team. It’s an amazing experience working with someone who has bought and sold in just one market for more than 20 years — Fishers.
Spray Net
Rodney and team at Spray-Net recently won the 2024 best painting company in Fishers award from community awards. So that counts for some rep, right? They service the Indy area with all your painting needs. Looking for an outdoor house refresh, kitchen paint upgrade, or front door level-up? These are your guys. They have a 15-year warranty and excellent reviews.
Tangerine
Ladies if you need a new outfit for the season, consider dropping into Tangerine, located in the same area as Geist Coffee and Salt. You’ll be dressed to impress for your next social event, and can even grab some accessories or a hostess gift. Shop online or in-store and support this local biz.
Twigs & Tea
Twigs and Tea is your ultimate find for the lady in your life. Hand selected home décor? Christmas stocking stuffers? Unique clothing and accessories? You’ll find it all here. And trust me, you won’t show up with the same gift or in the same outfit as everyone else in the room.
Unplug Soy Candles (Fishers)
Unplug is having an open house on Saturday from 10 am -5 pm. Tantalize your sniffer with scents of cranberry blossom, balsam + cedar, or pumpkin spice latte. They have customized gift boxes for any pickleball-er, Swiftie, or bride-to-be in your life. It’ll be hard not to leave with something for yourself too.
Vintage Imagery X
Here’s a cool, local Etsy shop to check out. The shop owner is a Carmel-native selling old maps, vintage posters, and fine art prints. Check out this Fishers framer and other unique art pieces.
White’s ACE Hardware
Shopping for the grille master, bird enthusiast, or DIY-er? White’s Ace Hardware in Fishers is a great first stop. They’re a family-owned business whose mission is to carry the brands you love, but also to be a part of the community. There are some great deals and even have their own gift guide.
