The Best Coffee Shops in Fishers
This is the best coffee in Fishers series, all backed by review data, our opinions, and readers of Fishers Digest ⭐
Are you looking for the best coffee shops in Fishers?
Look no further because we crunched and the numbers and the answer definitely isn’t Starbucks. In fact, there are more local shops in Fishers than there are Starbucks! 🎉
There are 23 coffee shops in Fishers on Google. And I don’t actually think that’s all of them, because it depends on how the owner marks their business. For example, there is a coffee shop at Launch Fishers. There’s also one at Itown. We didn’t include those because they’re a bit fringe and not a mainstream accessible option. Make sense?
So trimming left us with eight places you might consider if you’re trying to go to a coffee shop. Here is that list.

How this list is ordered
Sort of like we did in our last roundup (best American restaurants in Fishers), we did three things.
- A Google scrape of their review count and totals
- Went to every one of these shops (multiple times)
- Polled Fishers Digest readers
For the most part, the Google reviews for each business lined up with the poll responses from Fishers Digest readers. With a few notable exceptions:
Java House is kind of a wildcard. They came in 3rd for the poll, and you’ll often hear locals speak very highly of them. But they have the lowest review stars (4.2), and a low count as well. Their long-standing Carmel location generally mirrors the Fishers reviews.
MOTW and Niyyah Coffee have an outrageous amount, and almost perfect reviews on Google. However, they polled middle of the pack. Maybe a sign to try them out? Having been there, they’re very good at soliciting reviews but it’s difficult to get hundreds if they aren’t true (and we can backup that they are both excellent).
Schoolhouse 7 and Geist Coffee have rock-solid fanbases. The comments left for them were wholesome. It makes sense, these two have the most “local” feel out of all the shops on this list.
With all that said, below you will find each shop, and a few more things to know about them. Enjoy!
The Well 👑
The Well is the undisputed BEST coffee shop in Fishers. Their Google reviews, results in our Fishers Digest poll, and our own opinions easily put them in the #1 spot. If you’re recommending a coffee shop to someone, you can never go wrong with The Well. Seriously, we have easily been 50+ times and have never had a bad experience.
The Well is a cozy and welcoming place with a mission to positively impact the community — they are actually a nonprofit! They partner with organizations that fund clean water projects for communities in need worldwide. Since opening in 2012, they have helped fund 75 water projects in 24 countries.
The Fishers location has two conference rooms that can be rented out for your next meeting or study session. Hungry? They offer some filling options like bagel sandwiches, breakfast burritos, and quinoa bowls.

Why go here: You want consistently good coffee, a place to meet someone, and want to be in the heart of downtown Fishers
Schoolhouse 7 Cafe
You can’t visit Schoolhouse 7 Cafe and not feel all the school nostalgia. For one, the building itself is a historic one-room schoolhouse from 1901. The history is cool – one teacher taught 10 subjects to 8 different classes here. The “7” is included in the name to commemorate it being the 7th schoolhouse to be built in the township.
The academic theme is incorporated into all aspects, too. Drinks are categorized as “core subjects, extra curriculars” etc. and sizing is labeled “freshman, senior, etc.” Purchase breakfast and lunch options from the “cafeteria”.
There are two rooms upstairs which can be rented together or separately for work or private events. The owners also kept the grassy outdoor eating space, once used for children to eat their lunches outside.
History buffs who also love coffee will give this place an A+!

Geist Coffee Company
Walk into Geist and you will see plenty of people plugged into work. There’s definitely a cozy, productive vibe here. Maybe it’s their latte flights that draw people in, or maybe it’s their specialties, like the Sunshine Chai or Red Cappuccino.
The shop offers a variety of seating from tables to casual armchairs. Great food options here, too. There are also games available to enjoy with your brew. A big plus is the outdoor seating + there’s a drive-thru window if you need a caffeine fix from your car.

Java House (Fishers)
Located in the heart of downtown Fishers, Java House is a buzzing, often busy, coffee spot specializing in cold drinks. Cold and sweet? This may be your favorite place. The vibe here is very social, and seems to be popular for interactive work meetings as well as casual meet-ups.
There’s a small outdoor seating area (bring your pooch!), and a convenient walk-up window if you are headed to the farmers market. There’s also plenty of breakfast options if you’re famished from walking along the Nickel Plate Trail.

MOTW (Fishers)
MOTW should do masterclasses on hiring. For the few years they’ve been open (since 2022), they have always had the best staff of any business in Fishers. Easily.
So if you’re seeking a laid-back spot to work, read, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee, MOTW might be just the place.
What started as an Instagram phenomenon (@muslimsoftheworld) during the owner’s time at Butler University has grown into a welcoming storefront, physically bringing people together. With over 700K followers, the page celebrates stories and cultures from around the world, and the café is ranked among Yelp’s top 100 coffee shops in the country.
MOTW shines in every aspect you can ask for. Good coffee, good people, and a nice space. Wi-Fi passwords are conveniently placed at each table, and there are plenty of outlets for those needing to work.

Niyyah Coffee
Niyyah, meaning ‘intention’ in Arabic, embodies the spirit of purpose this coffee shop strives to fulfill—whether you’re here to work, catch up with a friend, or simply enjoy some solo time. Nestled in the Hub & Spoke building, it offers a perfect spot for coworking or a quiet retreat.
The ambiance is warm and welcoming, with baristas recommending standout drinks like their lattes, Authentic Masala Chai, and matcha. The rooftop patio offers a charming outdoor space, and its proximity to the Nickel Plate Trail makes it easy to grab a coffee and enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Mariam Coffee
This new, small establishment is quiet, clean, and serves some exotic options. Cushy-backed seats are plentiful and each table is equipped with an outlet, making this a great working space.
Mariam wants to make grabbing a coffee an artistic experience, and you’ll feel like a VIP here – drinks are served up on a personal tray with water to cleanse the pallet. The shop owner said the house specialty is Turkish coffee, so I opted for their very best. With cardamom? Sure, I said.
Turkish coffee is a strong beverage made by boiling rather than brewing very fine coffee grounds. This process does leave some residuals at the bottom, just in case that’s not your thing.
There’s also some food options available. Most who came in ordered the baklava, so I followed suit. Highly recommend it. It was the perfect flaky, sweet accompaniment to my coffee.

Why go here: You want to enjoy an authentic Turkish Coffee or their very well-done decor
Smitten Kitten Cafe
Smitten Kitten takes it for the most fun and unique coffee shop. It’s sort of two businesses in one. The whole shop is divided in two by giant glass panels. On one side you have a traditional, clean coffee shop. On the other are loads of cats.
Every cat there is adoptable, and you’re welcome to visit with them while you enjoy your coffee (there is a fee for this). They recommend reservations but the times we have been it’s never been an issue.
The thing to know here is that it is very well kept. If you have reservations about going to a coffee shop that has cats, don’t. Unless you’re allergic. Then definitely don’t go.
