The Digest

City council meeting tonight

One big thing: Mayor Fadness will present his 2024 budget to the council and public today.

The presentation itself is just an introduction. September’s meeting will include a public hearing for the budget (meaning you can comment during the session).

Also on today’s agenda are health department updates, votes on non-profit funds, area annexations, and more. The typical stuff. Expect this to be a packed house. If you have a comment you want to make on public record, you can do so here by 12 pm.

🏫 City Council Meeting | Monday, August 21 | 7-8 pm | Launch Fishers 12175 Visionary Way Fishers, IN, 46038 | Livestream it online here if you can’t make it.

And if you need a laugh before today’s meeting…

🏖️ Beat the heat

Cool off this week at Geist Waterfront Park Beach while you still can! According to Fishers Parks, the beach will be shut down after Labor Day. Here are some to-dos while you’re there:

  • Kayak Rentals
  • Paddleboard rentals
  • Swimming (lifeguards on staff)
  • Beach sand and park

💡 Pro tip: If you don’t live in Fishers, you can carpool with a resident and the $50 parking fee won’t apply to you.

You can register for a pass here if you don’t have one.

Restaurant report cards

In about 2 weeks — restaurants in Fishers will have placards with their report cards. If you want to see them ahead of time, here are the current grades and numbers for Fishers restaurants.

  • A — 294
  • B — 26
  • C — 18
  • Failed — 3

Fortunately, the three failed restaurants fixed all critical issues and are re-opened. Phew.
