These events are perfect for everyone

The Greening of the Canal

Details: Thursday, March 14th | 5 pm | Ohio Street Canal Basin. On Ohio Street between West Street and Senate. Just east of Fire Station 13 and across the street from the Historical Society.

The fountain will turn green as firetrucks shoot an environment-safe green color into the Canal. There will also be honorary pours of green into the river by Mayor Hogsett, the 2024 Irish Man of the Year, and Sarah Taylor. The green color will then slowly spread throughout the canal turning everything green 🍀

The Indianapolis 500 Gordon Pipers will perform live music, and food trucks will be on Ohio Street between Senate and West Street.

If you can’t attend the event, you can live stream it on the Indy St Pats website. Plenty of paid parking is available at Senate Street, Ohio Street, New York Street, and Indiana Avenue.

The Shamrock Drop in Westfield

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Details: Friday, March 15 | 11:30 am | North Street (see below for parade route).

The Indy St. Patrick’s Day parade is the centerpiece of the weekend. It’s a legendary event now in its 42 years. When was the last time you saw a police officer doing a bike stand during a parade? Because that happens during these parades. There are also Irish-themed floats, school marching bands, pipe and drum bands, and much more.

The parade steps off from North Street by the tents at 11:30 am and follows this route:

  • North Street 🔽 clockwise around Pennsylvania Street ⬅️ to Ohio Street 🔼 North on N Meridian Street 🔼 Breaks off at north and west on E Michigan Street
  • The march is 1.5 hours

Indy St. Patrick’s Day official tent party

Details: Friday, March 15 | 9:30 am | North Street Tent (see parade image above)

If you’re in for the official tent part in downtown Indianapolis, it starts at 9:30 am and goes all day. This is the biggest and baddest tent party in the city. Coupled with the parade, you’re sure to have a rockin’ time.
