🗺️ Need a spring break idea? Here are curious things to see and do

Have you heard of the Atlas Obscura? It’s the Wikipedia of the most curious places and things to see. With spring break approaching, it’s a neat tool to discover a new place or two here in Indy or on your travels. Here’s a selection of some that are close to Fishers (if you’re sticking around):

  • The Pink Elephant drinking a martini in Fortville. The ice cream shop next door has a flavor in its honor!
  • The Noblesville Museum that once held Charles Manson
  • Crown Hill Cemetery. The highest point in Indy and grave of the most famous bank robber in US history, John Dillinger. Linking his story because it’s fascinating
  • The Indiana Medical History Museum
  • Indy’s Teeny Statue of Liberty Museum

Honorable mention if you’re willing to make the drive: The world’s largest ball of paint.

There are many more around us, which you can view using their map. Their mobile app is also handy if you’re traveling.

A police scholarship

For 15 years, the Fishers Police Corps has awarded scholarships to high school seniors pursuing criminal justice. Students can apply with a 500-word essay to hopefully earn $1,500 for college. Application deadline is this Friday.

Merch should look good. No one wants junk shirts made with cheap materials for something you might wear only once. And that’s exactly why I worked with a local Fishers designer to create something beautiful ❤️‍🔥

This is a limited-time pop-up shop and the only place to get Fishers Digest gear. You get it now or never. The store will be open until Friday. 5% of every order will go directly to a Fishers-based charity helping build a school.

Local Business

🍣 Maybe coming: A revolving sushi bar

Could Fishers be getting a revolving sushi bar? Fishers has a health dashboard, which makes it easy to see restaurant grades, permits, and more. One name on that list is a curious one: Kura Sushi. Last month, they applied for and were granted a retail food permit, with an expected open date in late October. They’ll be found next to a new Kilwin’s at the Whistle Drive development.

There were rumors that a sushi place would open here. I’ve tried contacting their media team but haven’t heard back. I wonder if this is it! 👀

🍜 Definitely coming: Kyu Ramen

I know I know. It’s not in Fishers, but it’s worth mentioning anyway. Because Kyu Ramen is 🔥. They have over 120 locations in Asia alone, so you know it’s gonna be good. You’ll find them on Mass Ave in downtown Indy when they announce an official opening date.

A hilarious image of a mistake once made at allisonville nursery

A reader shared this story with me over the weekend. The story goes in 2006, for about 2 hours, Allisonville Nursery forgot a few letters when advertising their peonies 🤣

I would love to know if anyone else remembers this and can explain more!

Construction This Week

Here’s what’s new:

  • The Brooks Chase Neighborhood is next on the list for sidewalk repairs. These are only in areas where there is a toe or tripping hazard. No driveways
  • At some point, parts of Masters Road may close down for an Indianapolis project. The official word is sometime between now and April.
